O-S United Soccer Tournament

Eric Erdmann, Writer

Over this past weekend, the boy’s soccer team hosted a home tournament. They made a clean sweep against all three teams.  They played Abington-Avon, Riverdale, and Princeton. Not a single team scored a goal against the O-S United team. The boy’s soccer team beat both Abington-Avon and Riverdale 9-0. Then with their last game got cut short due to lightning, but the soccer boy’s still won the game 3-0. With winning every game the team got first in the tournament with Princeton getting second. Jacob Kruse, Eric Erdmann, Jordan Maynard, Tyler Syslo, Caleb Spranger, and Tanner Irey were all named to the All-Tournament Team. With their three wins in the tournament the team’s record now moves to 14-7 for varsity.

I asked a few varsity players a few questions about the tournament:

Q1. Did the team perform as you expected in the tournament?

A1. “Yes, because we have a strong team this year and have been playing some really good soccer.” ~Tyler

¨Yes, because we destroyed everyone.” ~Tanner

Q2. Where these wins a good confidence booster after losing 3 out of the 4 previous games?

A2. “Yes it was, we needed to regain our confidence to prepare us for the upcoming tough games. Also, get our confidence up for regionals.” ~Tyler

¨Kinda, but we didn’t play very good teams at the tournament.” ~Tanner

Q3. Who on your team was a stand out during the tournament? Why?

A3. “Eric Erdmann, he was able to play his main role at defense and help us shut out all the teams. Then, when switched to offense he was the leading scorer of the tournament.” ~Tyler

¨Eric Erdmann, because he had two hat tricks and a free kick goal in the tournament. He kinda went off!” ~Tanner
