This weeks game was something different. The Chargers played on Thursday, September 26th, at 7 pm. They played a day early because of the forecast of heavy rain the next day. The varsity team travelled to Riverdale to have a successful outcome. They bounced back from last weeks loss and won 33-3 against the Rams. Now, the Chargers are 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference.

During this game, the Chargers kept the lead the entire time. In the first quarter, Braydi Mascari scored the first touchdown of the game. Early in the second quarter, Kobe Lieving was able to run into the endzone making the score 13-0. Also at the end of the second quarter, Quinn Hoftender was able to receive the pass in the endzone making the lead even higher. At half-time, the Chargers were ahead 20-0. For the rest of the game, the varsity team was able to continue being successful. They scored twice more, one being on a fumble recovery. However with about 5 minutes left in the game, the Riverdale Rams were able to kick a field goal allowing them to put 3 points on the board.

While all players on the Charger team had important roles for this win, senior Kobe Lieving was the standout. He had a total of 50 yards rushing. Kobe also had 3 touchdowns in this game. Two of the three touchdowns were scored by him running 20 and 35 yards into the endzone. The other was scored by him recovering a fumble. Kobe had a very successful game overall.

The next game is homecoming on Friday October 4th. The Chargers will be up against the Fulton Steamers. Hope to see you there!
