Nearly everyone who’s been here for more than a second knows about and has experienced a service learning project. Of course, service learning projects are usually just bake sales and dodgeball competitions. Yet, it’s still something where everyone tries to raise money for businesses that are all focused on making the world a better place. There’s one student who started their service learning project already, Gabe Laleman. Also while it’s not a service learning project, Xander Carlson is starting a project of his own.

Gabe is trying to help the less fortunate by donating clothes and supplies to Goodwill in hopes of helping create jobs. There’s a donation box in the commons so if you have any clothes you need to get rid of you should definitely bring them along someday.

Xander wants to give back to Tri Delta House, if you don’t know what Tri Delta is, they’re partnered with St. Judes and help sponsor them and give people a place to stay when they have short visits at St. Judes. He’ll be collecting supplies until November. In December, he’ll be going to Memphis to at some point in December to take the donations to Tri Delta House.

Supplies Needed for Tri Delta

  • Toiletry items
  • Toys for children of all ages
  • Art and craft supplies
  • Video games, movies, and gaming consoles

A more detailed list will be posted in the office and there will be donation boxes in the office throughout the month of September, there will also be a table at the Tackle Cancer game.
