The varsity football team continues their winning streak with another heart pumping win against Kewanee. The Chargers came through with an intense 35-27 win. Throughout the entire game, the score was interesting. Orion started the game off on fire and everyone had high hopes. Later on in the second quarter, the Chargers fell and the Boilers took the lead. At halftime the score was 14-13. After halftime, The Chargers knew they had to make something happen. Many good plays were made by the varsity team and we started back up. In the third quarter, the Boilers still had hopes that they could keep their lead; however they were wrong when it comes to the final quarter. The Chargers passed and moved the ball which allowed them to gain their confidence back. The entire fourth quarter, the scoring was nail-biting. Near the beginning of the final quarter, Kewanee was able to gain that lead back. They were ahead 27-19 with only a few minutes left in the game. With just a short amount of time left on the clock, The Chargers scored a touchdown, but they still had to complete the two-point conversion to tie the game. That play was successful and the game was tied. However, The Chargers kept battling and came out with a win!

The player of the game, according to Quad City Dispatch, was Senior Ryan Jungwirth. He completed 15 of 19 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Ryan also caught an interception that allowed his team to score the winning touchdown. Quinn Hoftender was also a standout during this game. He had several great catches and scored touchdowns to help the varsity team to a victory.

This week, Friday September 13th, The Chargers take on Rockridge for an important game of the season as The Rockets are also 2-0 for the season. It is also Tackle Cancer Night, so come support the team and also the cancer survivors. See you there!
